Unlike subterranean termites, drywood termites control methods can be categorized as either whole-structure or localized treatments. A whole-structure treatment simultaneously treats all accessible and inaccessible infestations, generally using a tent placed over the home and a termiticide fumigant like Vikane® applied to the interior of the home. Unfortunately, these products do not provide residual control, so the home is quickly vulnerable again.Localized spot treatments involve applying a liquid termiticide like Termidor ® termiticide/insecticide to single boards or a small group of boards. Termites contact the treated area, ingest and share the Termidor® with other termites, eventually killing the termites. Spot treatments may not carry a guarantee, so make sure you understand your contract with your pest control professional when considering a spot treatment. |
